​Flash Back Academy will be the most exciting dinner show on earth while saluting the greatness of American history over 100 years thru music, comedy and food. It is the modern day greatest show on earth.

PROGRAM OUT LINE

Week 1: Dramatic Literature Students will take part in an orientation and pretest to evaluate where each students is at. Students will be taught a wide variety of dramatic literature. Participants will learn how to create stories, how to write from concept to completion. Script Writing is designed to address the academic challenges of youth and adults. It serves to motivate students that have challenges with reading.

Week 2: Acting Students use fundamental acting skills. Students will be introduced to the fundamental of how to act. In order to have greater success with introducing the students to theater participants will be introduced to the language used in the film and theatrical industry along with their meaning. Words that are used in the entertainment industry are back- drop, back stage, up stage, down stage, props, wardrobe, director, actor, actress, under studies, assistant director, narrator, understudy, production crew, sound and lighting crew, marker, curtain call.Students will learn other terminology and the meaning of Expression, Projecting, Emotion and Stunts

Week 3: Cultural Context of Drama Students understand drama’s role in culture and human experiences by being introduced to several scripts depicting a particular decade or error.This approach will allow students to develop a wide range of acting skills.

Week 4: Production Students use fundamental production skills. Students will begin building story boards for all support departments to be on the same page. Here is where departments will begin working together to work towards one main goal which is the end result of putting on a performance. Week 5: Consumer Theatre Audition Students understand how to be knowledgeable of consumers and theatre. During the audition process youth and adults will read for parts of the play. A mixed panel of judges (youth and adults) will choose the participants. Understudies are also chosen at this time. Students should be encouraged to make a suggestion, which allows students to ad-lib in order to stimulate cognitive and critical thinking.While many actors will audition for various part there will be a strong focus on who the audience will be and how to outreach to the industry and community.

Week 6: Drama and Human Development Students understand the role of drama in human development. Students will also look at their role in their community and how they act affects others around them. Many students may have never committed themselves to a project because they may experience low self-esteem issues and self -doubt. They should be reminded that they would be welcomed to return when they are ready. Reminding students that you believe in their ability is always helpful.

Week 7: Dramas and other Disciplines

The majority of day school students have been unable to find success within the traditional school environment because of moderate to severe behavioral, physical, and/or emotional obstacles. Providing a rewarding, positive learning experience through a specialized curriculum offers such students the opportunity and tools to be successful.

Our highly trained staff to student ratios ensure personalized attention and a nurturing, supportive environment to help students build self-esteem, and to develop and practice more acceptable behaviors. During their year long stay student will take part in learning how to produce live theatrical productions while learning film and multimedia production.

 

ACTING & WRITING

All actors will earn the basic fundamentals of acting based off the California Content Based Standards. The visual and performing arts content standards define what every student should know and be able to do in dance, music, theatre, and in the visual arts. They indicate the most important and enduring concepts, processes, and skills that are essential learning within the arts disciplines. They provide "keys to each of the arts disciplines. Each of the arts disciplines is in itself a vast body of subject matter--an array of skills, knowledge and techniques offering the student a means of communication and modes of thought and action.

 

Each discipline also provides rich and complex points of view on the world and human experience offers analytical and theoretical perspectives, a distinct history, many schools of interpretation, as well as innumerable connections to all human activity. Amid this wealth, the standards offer basic points of entry into the study of the arts disciplines.

 

Students understand the connections between drama and other disciplines such as dance, comedy, song. Students will continue to develop their roles.

 

They will be encouraged to expand on the roll through improvisation. Week 8: Post Test Rehearsal will continue until week 12 Students will be administered a midterm post test to determine their understanding the course out line taught during their sessions.

 

Week 13: Career Employability Training While continuing to rehearse. Students will take part in the career employability course. This is done to prepare them for graduation and to be prepare to enter into the job market.

 

Topics will include:1) Choosing a Career – How to choose what’s right for you 2) Basic Computer Skills / World Wide Web3) Resume Writing / Completing Applications 4) Effective Communication / How to set up an interview.

 

Week 14: Career Employability TrainingWhile continuing to rehearse students will take part in the career employability course. This is done to prepare them for graduation and to be prepare to enter into the job market. Topics will include:5) Dressing for Success6) Work Place Behavior 7) Social Responsibility 8) Conflict Resolution / Avoiding Conflicts on the Job / Advancing on the Job.9) Money Management Personal Financing, Investing, Credit & Collection Week 15: Dress RehearsalThis week will be dedicated to preparing for the production.

 

Week 16: Performance / GraduationStudents will showcase their new learned skills during a theatrical performance.Following the performance each graduate will be presented with a certificate of completion.

 

Make-Up and Wardrobe Design: Costume design will consist of learning to read and create patterns. Participants will take part in 8 weeks of hands on industry costume design. How to use the sewing machine. Students cast will assist in the clothing and costume design. The adult staff or mentors will assist in the make-up needed to create realistic characters.
